I didn’t notice this until after the photo was developed but the wall debris gives the appearance of the contraction, I’m. Essentially the (staged) subject is confronted with the idea of what he thinks of himself. Given his body language i.e. looking down, solemn expression he doesn’t appear to view himself highly.
