I don’t know a lot or about sports players/athletes, but this guy is my favorite; I loved reading his story growing up. He was a stud of an athlete, he was the first athlete at UCLA to letter in FOUR varsity sports: football, basketball, baseball and track. How talented was he?! He had actually planned on trying out for the 1940 Olympics in track, but it was canceled on account of WWII. As the first black player in Major League Baseball, he broke the color barrier line when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers.  When he was signing on, the team’s manager Branch Rickey asked him to apply a nonviolent approach to the significant turning of history, knowing there would be racist backlash. Robinson agreed, and courageously went through his baseball career holding his head up high in grace and honor.
